Natural Ways to Prevent Wrinkles
Light from the sun leads to wrinkles and other skin problems. Sunlight affects fibers known as elastin. When the fibers break down, skin starts to sag and stretch and loses its ability to rebound. Skin loses its original glow. Wrinkles manifest themselves as crow’s feet, or lines around the eye’s edges, and lines that appear on the forehead. There are many skincare brands that develop anti-aging products, such as Erno Laszlo and Kolh’s, but below are some natural ways to prevent wrinkles through preventive maintenance:
1. Aloe vera
This flowering plant has been shown to reduce wrinkles. The earlier in the process it is used the better the result. A person does not want to wait until their wrinkles are pronounced before trying aloe vera. The plant contains sterols which cause the body to produce collagen. This moisturizes the skin and prevents wrinkles. It also lessens existing wrinkles.
2. Egg whites
This substance can be used as a face mask. It has the effect of trapping moisture in the skin. Lack of moisture, or dry skin, is a cause of wrinkles. The moisture makes the skin puff out. This makes the wrinkles less noticeable. Egg whites contain Vitamin A which has been shown to improve skin health by retaining moisture.
3. Olive oil
This oil possesses antioxidants. A person can put some on their face, especially in areas that tend to wrinkle like crow’s feet, and it will prevent further wrinkles. Olive oil is full of essential vitamins such as A and K. It can also be consumed in a liquid form. This natural method is not new. Humans have used this oil for a long time. It is similar to other treatments in that it traps moisture which prevents and reduces wrinkles.
4. Coconut oil
As mentioned early, collagen is important in maintaining good skin health. It has been shown to help wounds heal faster. Coconut oil is a good natural source of collagen. Applying it to the face would naturally retard wrinkles. As with each of the natural ways to prevent wrinkles, this substance helps produce and maintain moisture which is the enemy of wrinkles, sagging, and stretched skin.
5. Lemon juice
The key here is to take some fresh juice from a lemon. Then it is applied in a gentle manner to the face. Special emphasis on areas that tend to wrinkle or are already showing the effects of aging. Lemon juice is acidic. That acid will make the face appear to glow. In addition, this juice contains Vitamin C. That particular vitamin produces the special substance known as collagen which is vital to skin health.
6. Banana mask
This mask is a mixture or orange juice, yogurt that is thick, and a ripe banana. It is then placed on the face. The length of time can be determined by trial and error. Start with a short period of time. Once again it will retain moisture. The mask should be removed with cold water. Wrinkles should appear less visible. The theory behind its use is its ability to increase collagen. Rather than making a mask, a person can just rub a banana peel on their face.
These aging skin tips are not to be used in isolation. An individual can experiment with each one and settle on a combination that meets the specific needs of that person’s face. The point is to increase moisture, produce lost collagen, and increase elasticity lost due to aging.
